The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) examines applications in Chinese. A foreign applicant with no habitual residence or business office in China must appoint a patent agency established in China (Patent Law, Article 18).
So a firm abroad usually files and prosecutes through a Chinese patent agency. This directory lists 39 Chinese firms, ordered by the patent families each shares with firms in other countries.
